Randa

Randa is the fourth of six siblings, all of whom are orphans. Tragically, she lost her father to
a brief illness when she was just about 10 years old. Since then, her mother was the sole
caregiver, raising Randa and her five siblings on her own. As a petty trader struggling to
make ends meet, her mother faced immense challenges, with little to no support from
extended family.

They lived near a large drainage ditch in the Israel Ayigbe Junction area, part of the Ga
Central Municipality, which was abandoned by the government. During the rainy season,
there was always persistent flooding of their home.

In September 2014, the relentless floods struck again, severely damaging their home,
cracking walls, and destroying nearly everything they owned. The loss devastated her
mother, and this took a toll on her physical and mental health. Tragically, one night, her
mother was rushed to the hospital and unfortunately, due to financial difficulties and the
cash-and-carry healthcare system, doctors refused to treat her, and she passed away.

At such a young age, Randa and her five siblings had no choice but to take on odd jobs to
survive. The little financial support they received from each other helped Randa finish Junior
High School. What kept her going through the trauma and adversity was the resilience she
shared with her siblings, as well as the strength drawn from their mother’s struggles. Most
importantly, Randa found comfort and purpose in her faith, vowing to make the most of any
support they received to break free from their circumstances and achieve her dreams.

With her siblings’ help, Randa graduated from high school in 2012, having studied General
Arts. Despite the overwhelming challenges of being an orphan, she has demonstrated
remarkable perseverance in her pursuit of education, successfully passing all of her exams.
Randa’s dream is to further her studies at the tertiary level, pursuing either Nursing or a
business-related field. However, she urgently needs financial assistance to make this dream
come true. Your generous support can help Randa access the education she deserves and
turn her aspirations into reality.
