Eligibility Requrements

Do You Qualify?

Review our eligibility criteria carefully before applying. Meeting all requirements increases your chances of success.

Ghanaian Citizen

Must be a Ghanaian student seeking Tertiary education or Vocational training

Admission Status

Vocational applicants must have admission into a program or documented arrangements toward acceptance

Mentorship Commitment

Commit to be mentored throughout the duration of your studies

Recommendation Letters

Provide two recommendations: one professional (teacher or employer) and one from a mentor or community leader

Academic Excellence

GPA of at least 3.0 for University applicants (WASSCE results required). Recipients must maintain satisfactory academic performance to continue receiving support

Age Limit

Applicants must be 30 years old or younger at time of application

Community Service

Willingness to give back and mentor future applicants after graduation

Personal Statement

Submit an essay explaining educational goals, financial hardship, and career aspirations

Financial Need

Must demonstrate significant financial need and inability to fund educational expenses

First Degree (STEM Only)

Scholarships are limited to first-degree STEM programs, including 6-year professional programs

Strong Personal Character

Must demonstrate good moral standing, integrity, and a growth mindset

Important Note for Vocational Trainees

Vocational training applicants do not need a specific GPA requirement but must have official WASSCE results. You must have admission into a program or have necessary arrangements done towards being accepted into a program.

When is the application deadline?

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. However, we recommend submitting your application at least 3 months before your program start date to allow sufficient time for review and processing.

How long does the review process take?

The review process typically takes 4-6 weeks from the date of submission. You will receive an email notification once a decision has been made.

Can I apply if I am already in school?

Yes, current students can apply. You must maintain good academic standing (GPA of at least 3.0) to remain eligible for the scholarship program.

What expenses does the scholarship cover?

The scholarship typically covers tuition fees, accommodation, books and other school supplies. The exact coverage depends on the program you are enrolled in.

Is there an application fee?

No, there is no application fee. Building Hope GH is committed to making education accessible, and our application process is completely free.

Can I reapply if my application is not successful?

Yes, you can reapply in the next application cycle. We encourage unsuccessful applicants to strengthen their applications and reapply.
